Great article James, I think im going to get me a home study course with the contracts included. Knowledge is power and having your paperwork in order is priority

James replies:

Not a bad idea. As I mention in the article, there are lots of other ways to get contracts too.

I just put a mortgage on one of my rentals for which I've had an owner contract for 5 years. The guy I bought it from is retired and spends most of his time doing hurricane relief down south. When I gave the contract that I had with him to the title company, she immediately stated that the county records office probably wouldn't accept this simple one page deal. And that I would have to have a new sale agreement done on the standard state form. So, even if you get an owner contract, it is better to get it done on the correct paperwork.

James replies:

I have not had that experience myself.

I am a member of pre-paid legal. I pay 17.00 a month for legal services when I need them. One of the services provided is contracts.
I just fax any contract to the firm and they read it and advise me if there is a mistake or if I should add or subtract from it. Highly recommended. Im also a independent distributor for PPL.
